Here is one reason not to wear a green shirt when using a Green Screen
After reading “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.
Some of our women have taken action. A group of our young women have got together starting a micro enterprise by forming a beading group. The young women have come to Australia from the newly formed South Sudan and Cambodia. They are making and selling jewellery to fund overseas projects that help women in the developing world.
All of the girls involved have been directly effected by displacement from their former homelands.
They are learning new skills and developing their self confidence.
One participant said “I never realised that I could do beading and also help others through our work, It really excites me”.
Radio station 3CR has partnered with Springvale Uniting Church to create an evening of public discussion, questioning the apparent absence of progressive voices in current political debate.
The Q&A style of this forum will invite robust dialogue exploring how the populist challenges to dictatorial regimes in the Arab world since 2010 (referred to as the ‘Arab Spring’) generate new possibilities in both global and local settings.
Through 3CR’s live broadcast of the conversation, the minor voices of African and Middle-Eastern migrant communities will be heard and in this way offer an alternative view to the perspectives presented by mainstream media.
Drawing on the experiences of local grass-roots communities, this forum will demonstrate the potential to build healthier communities through the embracing of ethnic diversity, immigration and awareness of global political trends.
